Random House has formed a partnership with digital aggregation platform Flipboard to create periodical media to promote some of its titles.
The World of Ice and Fire magazine will provide fans of the Game of Thrones series with content about the world of George R.R. Martin, the author of the series. That magazine will be curated by Westeros.org, a site named for the fictional world in which the Game of Thrones plot takes shape.
The second magazine will be called MaddAddam’s World and will be curated by Margaret Atwood, who is the author of the MaddAddam trilogy.
Flipboard, which has 85 million users, will promote the magazines through its editors, recommendation sections and through interviews with Random House authors like Atwood. The company has plans to create additional content for the Flipboard platform, according to a press release (below).
It’s not Random House’s first partnership with Flipboard:
“Random House also publishes the Colophon, a Flipboard magazine covering publishing industry news, syndicates blogs such as the travel site Fodors.com and Word and Film, which examines the intersection of books, movies and television.”
