By DBW Simon & Schuster and Barnes & Noble have resolved their “outstanding business issues” according to a short statement from the companies:
Barnes & Noble and Simon & Schuster today announced that they have resolved their outstanding business issues. Both parties said they look forward to promoting great books by Simon & Schuster authors.
The companies had reportedly been in a dispute which led to severely curtailed bookstore distribution for Simon & Schuster titles in Barnes & Noble stores. The dispute came to light around the time when Simon & Schuster signed a landmark print-only distribution deal with star self-published author Hugh Howey. The conflict between the two stores threatened the success of the deal but the companies were able to assure print distribution for his popular Wool series, Howey told Digital Book World.
It’s unclear exactly what the resolution to this conflict means at this point. Simon & Schuster has declined to provide further comment and Barnes & Noble has not responded to request for further comment.
